Biodiversity and Conservation
Extinction or loss of species is happening at an alarming rate at the expense of human development. Recognising the need to preserve and conserve the existing biodiversity, YTL is dedicated to integrating biodiversity in our sustainable development strategies to protect biodiversity. We also avoid or minimise adverse impacts in our operations through regulatory compliance, implementing conservation initiatives that promote environmental awareness, and forming partnerships with experts, communities and stakeholders.
Climate Change
With the recent ratification of the Paris Agreement, climate change is undeniably one of the top global challenges that require concerted international efforts. As a conglomerate with power generation, cement production and construction operations, YTL understands that our business activities can have direct and indirect environmental impacts. For that, YTL is committed to assessing and mitigating climate-related risks in anticipation of stricter climate regulations and higher carbon prices, and continuously update our efforts to reduce, mitigate and adapt to climate change. Our climate change and business strategy remain focused on reducing emissions, enhancing energy efficiency and adopting renewable energy technologies towards a low carbon future.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
As one of the key regional players in the power generation sector, YTL is committed to pursuing green practices and steadily increasing renewable energy technologies and usage across our diversified operations as part of our efforts in support of the transition to a low carbon economy, and to minimise the impact of our environmental footprint.
Waste Management and Resource Efficiency
We place a strong focus on the importance of resource efficiency in all our business units. All resource use is carefully planned, efficiently utilised and processed to optimise output levels. We also continuously look for ways to reduce unnecessary consumption and waste, as well as to explore innovative opportunities, partnerships and solutions to achieve zero waste targets and transition to a truly circular economy.
Water Efficiency
Recognising the scarcity of clean and accessible water, YTL takes water efficiency seriously in our worldwide business operations. To minimise the potential impacts of water stress in our operations, we focus on practising sustainable water management, improving and optimising water efficiency, strengthening water conservation efforts, and improving our respective water footprint as part of our commitment to enhancing the water resilience of our operations.
