Food For All
PEOPLE & COMMUNITY 19 October 2015
Organised by the Global Shapers Community Kuala Lumpur (GSKL), the “Food For All” project was conceived to raise awareness of the hidden hunger crisis faced by underprivileged urban minorities and, most importantly, to provide these groups a platform for improved access to better quality food. On a broader scale, the project was initiated as part of an overarching effort to create a cohort of social change and transformation agents within our communities.
This year, the project saw good participation from YTL which provided sponsorship and also a strong showing of volunteers, with over 115 employees contributing time and effort to pack, transport and distribute meals at three childcare centres, namely United Learning Centre, Rumah Hope and Stepping Stones Living Centre. A total of 450 food packs were distributed, where children were treated to good, hearty meals. There was even time for volunteers to enjoy some fun and games with the children!
Through this project, YTL hopes to encourage more employees to go the extra mile beyond their respective workplaces, to actively reach out and meet the needs of surrounding communities and, above all, to realise that every effort towards social development counts.
