SDG 4 - Quality Education
COMMUNITY 14 November 2017
YTL Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The mandate of the Foundation resonates well with SDG 4 - Quality Education and the target of ensuring equitable and quality education for all. YTL Foundation provides financial aid and assistance to deserving individuals who would otherwise be denied opportunities to pursue higher education.
Today, YTL Foundation has expanded its role to include, among other things, organising workshops, talks and conferences to enrich and inspire educators, students, parents as well as other stakeholders in the field of education. In recent years, partnerships were forged to benefit the Malaysian education system through initiatives such as the Malaysian Collective Impact Inititive (MCII) and Global School Leaders. YTL Scholars enrichment programmes were also carried out with the aim of developing skills and competencies outside of academia, including trainings, retreats and coaching systems.
On the eve of YTL Foundation’s 20th anniversary, so far more than 140,000 people have benefited from our constant advocacy work. For more details, please visit http://ytlfoundation.com
Quality education also requires the supplement of a conducive learning environment. This year, YTL Construction came together to help upgrade the United Learning Centre (ULC), a Myanmar Refugee centre’s education and dormitory facilities as our commitment to provide a safer and more effective learning environment for all regardless of background. Areas and facilities being added include male and female dormitories furnished with bunk beds, a kitchen, new classrooms and a large gathering area. New amenities such as tables, chairs, fans and air conditioning were also installed.
One of the key targets under SDG 4 stresses on increasing the supply of qualified teachers in developing countries. FrogAsia initiated The Hubs which act as a learning platform for teachers, who are able to interact and exchange best practices through The Hubs across Malaysia especially on effective ways to fully utilise the Frog VLE platform.
